Get to know the heart behind the title : Tekoa Pouerie The Sharing Centers New CEO & President
We are thrilled to share some incredible news—Tekoa Pouerie (pronounced TEE-koh-ah Pour-ee) has officially joined The Sharing Center as our new President and CEO! Her passion for community advocacy and nearly two decades of experience make her a powerful addition to our mission of bringing hope and stability to those in need.
Get to know the heart behind the title: Tekoa Pouerie isn’t just our new President & CEO—she’s a powerhouse with purpose and a whole lot of heart. Born and raised in Clewiston, Florida, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from UCF (Go Knights!) and now serves as Co-Pastor at Acceleration Church.
But beyond the impressive titles, Tekoa is a proud wife and mom of two who can often be found cheering from the bleachers at her son’s baseball games or clapping the loudest at her daughter’s dance performances. When she’s not advocating for others or empowering communities, she’s sinking threes on the basketball court (and yes she’s still got it) or getting lost in the pages of a good historical novel.
Tekoa’s life work is rooted in lifting others up—especially those whose voices are too often unheard. A dynamic nonprofit leader and Trainer, Tekoa has trained over 10,000 individuals—from public service professionals to HR professionals and law enforcement officers—on trauma informed care. Her workshops are not just informative; they’re transformational, equipping people with the tools to better serve their communities and lead with empathy.
Her reach and reputation span statewide, with past collaborations that include the Department of Juvenile Justice, Florida’s Attorney General Office, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Department of Children and Families. Her unique training approach blends personal experience with historical and statistical insight—particularly around improving outcomes for families & youth in crisis.
Tekoa also made her mark at Pace Center for Girls, where she led fundraising and development strategies across 21 centers in Florida. Her leadership helped strengthen programs that prevent girls from entering the juvenile justice system and amplified the organization’s focus on cultural awareness and advocacy.
Now, as she steps into this new role at The Sharing Center, Tekoa brings with her a legacy of impact, a heart for justice, and a clear vision for the future. We are confident that her leadership will deepen our connections, inspire new growth, and elevate our mission to empower those facing hunger, housing instability, and crisis.
